81 min ( Finland/Sweden ) | Director: Ulrika Bengts

Iris is the first Finland-Swedish family film ever and takes the audience on a beautiful and imaginative journey to 1890’s Scandinavia. It’s focus is on Iris, a precocious girl who has been raised in a wealthy home by her artist mother, successful under a male pseudonym, but without any substantial contact with other children. Instead Iris has been playing alone, daydreaming, painting and enjoyed the role as all adults’ pet.

This changes when her mum has to travel to Paris alone to attend an important exhibition and Iris is sent to live with her uncle who lives on a small rural island in the Åland archipelago. The new life is completely different and for the first time she gets to experience the company of other children – her vivid imagination also grows wilder as it meets with nature. After the screening a delicacy typical for Åland will be served with jam and whipped cream!
