Opening film & Closure Film!!!

We are thrilled to reveal today our Opening film, Peter Greenaway’s ‘Eisenstein in Guanajuato’ with finnish-swedish actor Elmer Bäck in the leading role – Swedish premiere screening on August 30th at Bio Roxy and as our Closing film the Sweden premiere of Terrence Malick’s ‘Knight Of Cups’ with Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman.
As a long time admirer of Sergei Eisenstein, Peter Greenaway and Terrence Malick’s work, 2015 is really a good year to rediscover and to introduce these legendary artists/filmmakers to the old and new audience. Sergei Eisenstein, a pioneer Soviet filmmaker and his mystery adventure to make a film in Mexico has been hommaged in ‘Eisenstein in Guanajuato’ by another pioneer artist/filmmaker, Peter Greenaway, a British artist who later found his canvas on the silver screen by influence of Ingmar Bergman and nouvelle vague, created ‘The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover’, ‘The Belly of an Architect’. Greenaway has dedicated his latest work, selected in Competition at Berlin Film Festival 2015, to Eisenstein’s true self, his sexuality and his montage filming theory for today’s audience to appreciate Greenaway’s renaissance come back and highlight what exactly influenced our today’s movie language by Eisenstein. This film makes every sense to open Peace & Love Film Festival this year.   Another Berlinale’s competiton film is our cloture film by the mysterious American director Terrence Malick, who fascinated us with his ‘Badland’ ‘The Thin Red Line’ and ‘The Tree of Life’. His new film ‘Knight of Cups’ a Tarot card symbols emotion, wisdom and the heart not only gives us the pleasure of watching more talented actors joining Malick’s secret filming world, but also lead us to focus on Christian Bale’s character Rick’s rise and lost in Hollywood, his struggle with Nancy played by Cate Blanchett and his love story with Elizabeth played by Natalie Portman and what better way to let us keep dreaming Peace & Love once we achieved this year’s film festival through the grandiose music from ‘Knight of Cups’ composed by the amazing Hanan Townshend.” Shumai Chou, Program Director
Two of the films producers, Bruno Felix and Femke Wolting (Submarine), shares our excitement:
“It is fabulous news that the Dutch feature film Eisenstein in Guanajuato has once again been selected and will be the opening film of an International Film Festival.
